Zoo Membership – Family Fun & Much More

A day of family fun at the zoo is a usually a sure bet with kids.  For us, the Philadelphia Zoo-America’s First Zoo is our zoo of choice, even though it is about a 75 mile drive.

Unfortunately, a zoo outing can be very expensive; it is $63 including parking for our family of four (during peak season) – and children under 2 are free.  So, it seemed like a no brainer to get an annual family membership for $99 (less a 15% discount for using a promo code).  It pays for itself in 2 visits!

It includes:

  • Admission for two adults
  • Admission for children in the household under age 18
  • FREE parking
  • Free admission to Treehouse, Birds of Australia and walk-through exhibits
  • Free or discounted admission to more than 100 zoos nationwide
  • Exclusive members-only publications
  • Exclusive members-only programs
  • Access to special online content and features on the website
  • Discounts on education programs, family workshops and purchases in the ZooShop

We go to the zoo about 6 times a year, so it is a great value.  However, one of the best benefits of being a member of the Philadelphia Zoo is reciprocity, which provides free or discounted admission to over 100 zoos and attractions nationwide.  If you are a member of one of these reciprocal zoos, you can get 50% off admission to the Philadelphia Zoo.  Becoming a member of your local zoo is an easy way to provide year-round activities at one price.

The zoo hosts activities such as Easter egg hunts, the popular “Boo in the Zoo”, and has plenty of free giveaways.  So, membership is the perfect way to entertain your family and support your zoo.  Did I mention that $65 of that $99 is tax deductible?  You can’t beat that deal!

Update from Friday’s saga…we did end up cleaning the house this weekend in anticipation of the unannounced visitor.  We determined from our telepathic abilities that the tax assessor was coming on Tuesday, so just to mess with ‘em we went to the zoo…enjoy the photos!  Stay tuned for the conclusion…

  • Emmkay:

where can i find a promo code for the zoo?

  • The only valid online promo code that I know of right now is for $5 off the peak adult single day admission. Use promo code NJTRANSIT and the cost per ticket will be $13. Of course it is only $14 during this off peak season (Nov-Feb) anyway, but hey a dollar is a dollar.

All general promo codes for membership discounts have “expired” since they implemented their new ordering system.
