FTC Disclosure Requirements
Although this isn’t an exciting first post, I believe that it will give readers an idea of what we’re about.
The Federal Trade Commission recently updated its regulations that control advertising and endorsements to include blogs and social media. They essentially want you to know and us to disclose what bias we may have when writing about a company. No problem – we would do that anyway. You can read our full disclosure here.
We operate a media company that will have roots online and in print. We never keep free products and only accept free travel services if we would have utilized that service (hotel, attraction, etc) anyway. We will specifically disclose when we do so and write about it.
In the future, we will also have advertising and links on our sites from which we earn revenue or a commission. All advertisements will be labeled as such. We will keep a list of affiliates (ie companies we receive a commission from) in our FTC Disclosure Policy. A link to the policy will be at the bottom of each post and each webpage.
The bottom line is that we as journalists hold ourselves accountable and adhere to ethical standards and pride ourselves on our high degree of integrity. We tell it like it is – good or bad.
We hope you enjoy and come back often…we post fresh content daily.
